In logistics, shipping cargo by LCL service is a popular and convenient method, it is the best way for small cargo, not urgent and much cheaper than air freight. Therefore, it is necessary and important to know and calculate the domestic costs in Vietnam side for LCL service. So, what are the basic fees for a LCL shipment from Vietnam?

LCL (less than container): customer’s cargo uses only a part of container. The selling will deliver their cargo to CFS warehouse, and CFS warehouse will load it with other seller’s cargo, then close container and drop off to CY yard. As can be seen that, with LCL service, we need to work with coleader instead of carrier as FCL service.

From the cargo ready at factory until it ready at CFS warehouse and waiting for loading into container, which is fee that we need to concern?

1. Loading cargo from warehouse to container

For general cargo, this fee is labor fee at warehouse. However, for oversize cargo that require to use forklift or special vehicle to load the cargo on truck. in this case, we need to hire specialized vehicles to handle it.

2. Trucking fee

With LCL cargo, you will have more choice of truck type than FCL cargo. Depending on the volume of goods, there will be 1.25 tons, 2.5 tons, 5tons, 7 tons, 10 tons , … this is very convenient for choosing the right vehicle, saving costs for the parties. However, it should be noted that it is necessary to calculate the appropriate size to avoid choosing a car that is too small and incurs costs. So, if providing dimension of cargo is necessary to choose the correct truck.

3. Infrastructure fee

In the pass, this fee applied only for Haiphong port, with the tariff around 0.7$/ ton. but from 1- April -2022, Hochiminh city apply this fee also. Base on the type of good, the tariff is different.

4. Customs fee

SMG provides customs declarations service, open customs declaration sheet, Customs clearance and supervising. Depending on the type of commodity, HS code, the area where the declaration is opened, the customs price will be different. For normal goods, the customs fee that SMG is providing is $50. This fee excludes for inspection.

5. Local charge at port

The local fee will be collected by the co-loader based on the local charge that they paid to the shipping line and the warehouse. Therefore, the local fee for each routes will be different. This cost will not include services that incurred at the warehouse: fee for repackaging, fumigation, fee for repairing pallets,….
